Why the Library?

Why Use the Library Instead of Google?

Unlike Google or other free search engines, the library provides access to costly, high-quality published materials such as books, articles, and videos—resources often unavailable for free online. These materials have undergone rigorous editing and the publishing process, lending them greater credibility and reliability.

The college library is your go-to for free and efficient access to scholarly information essential for your coursework.

Start with OneSearch

OneSearch is the library’s powerful tool that allows you to search across most of the library’s resources in one place. Use it to find:

  • Peer-reviewed and scholarly articles
  • Books and eBooks
  • Reference materials
  • Videos and more

Examples of Resources and How to Find Them

  • Peer-Reviewed Articles: Access via OneSearch or the library’s periodical databases.
  • Scholarly Articles: Locate through OneSearch or periodical databases.
  • Books: Search using OneSearch or the library catalog.
  • Reference Materials: Use eReference databases or the library catalog.
  • Videos/Educational DVDs: Find using video databases or OneSearch.
  • Credible Websites: Use Google, focusing on domains like .edu, .gov, or .org.
