Students will be writing a cover letter, research paper and an annotated bibliography for the iSearch Project. The project is designed to help you develop your own inquiry question, and then locate, assess, and collect five credible sources that help you find possible answers to your question.
The iSearch project is a four-step process.
1. The first part of the iSearch will explain why you were interested in this question and how your interest lead you to your inquiry question.
2. In the second part, walk us through the triumphs and tribulations of your research journey.
3. In the third part, you will describe your research results by quoting, paraphrasing, summarizing and analyzing the information.
4. Finally, you will reflect on how the information you found confirmed, complicated, and/or challenged your understanding of the topic you chose. You will also reflect on how others might benefit from this information.
Audience: Your audience is your classmates and teacher. Your goal is to show us a new perspective and what you learned about your topic. You should provide the information needed to help your readers understand your research journey. Imagine you are writing to someone unfamiliar with the topic.
Sources: You must cite at least five credible sources in your paper, at least one of which must be from a Las Positas College Library database such as Academic Search Ultimate and at least two other sources must be from your research. For the other two (or more) sources, you are welcome to use any of the texts that were read for the class.
