MUS 5 - Music Online: Blues

This is a general overview of the Music Online streaming with specific instructions for Music 5 classes.

  • OR To find Music Online on the LPC Library Homepage.
  • From the right column FIND, choose "Audio, Video, and Images".
  • Scroll down to Music Online (or choose one of the specific music collections).

There are multiple ways to find Blues.  Here are 2 methods to get you started:

  Browsing for Blues

Option 1 - Browse Genres

In the left column under Browse, choose Genres.

Click on the + icon next to Blues in the list.

Choose one of the sub-genres

Example: Contemporary Blues

If your result list contains many biographies, you may filter your results by selecting Audio Recordings from the format column on the right. 

There may be more tracks once you have selected an album from the result list.

Caution:  Many albums may be compilations that contain all types of music.  Click on the song title to see detailed information listed under "Cultural Group", "Cultural Place", or "Place" to be sure that the selected song matches your assignment requirements.

  Searching for Blues

Option 2 - Search by Keyword

In the search box located on the uper right, type in your keyword(s).

For example you can search by genre, sub-genre, artist, etc. 

Look through your textbook or class notes for ideas of other keywords.

Sample keywords: 

  • Blues
  • Rhythm and blues
  • Field holler
  • Work songs
  • Slide guitar and blues
  • Robert Johnson
  • Billie Holiday
