Overview

This page covers some basic examples of MLA in-text citations.  For more complete information, see the resources listed in the box to the right.

 

Elements, Format, and Examples

Elements Needed (in the order given) - 

  • First thing listed for the reference in the Works Cited list (ex. Author Last Name, Organization Name, or Work Title,
  • Specific location in work (ex. page number, time stamp).

Format -

(First Item in Full Citation Location)

Example Book (Print or Online) Two Authors, Specific Page Numbers -

In-Text:

Works Cited:
