This is an EXCERPT of the instructions specific to library research. Be sure to refer to Prof. Waters full assignment for requirements and instructions..
Step 1: Topic Approval
- To do this you will complete a literature search as demonstrated during the library orientation. Often, it is helpful to start with a review article that provides a broad overview of the topic. This review article can be very useful in guiding your literature search.
Step 2: Library Research
- Research your topic finding valid and reliable references. A minimum of three references are required, one of which must be a primary research article. I recommend starting with a secondary research article (i.e., a review of the topic) and from there select a primary research article.
Note: See last page that describes the difference between a primary and secondary research article.
- To find references, use the LPC Library’s on-line electronic resources. Of course, you may also use on-site materials from the library, or you may go to the Valley Care Library in Pleasanton.
- All research references must be from scientific journals or high quality internet sites. General encyclopedias and “non-science” websites are not acceptable as one of the three main references, but may be used in addition to those. If you’re not sure, check with me.
Step 3: Preparing Presentation
- Your last slide(s) has to contain all your references in APA format.
