Why Books?

A book can provide in-depth information about all aspects of a topic. Browse the table of contents for relevant chapters. If the table of contents is not detailed enough, check the index referring to the keywords you identified in your background reading. You may then just cite the chapters you use in your References list.

Call Numbers

The LPC Library, like most academic libraries, uses the Library of Congress classification system (LC).

Books on sociology are in the HM section.  However, due to the nature of this research assignment, your books can fall under many different subject areas in the social sciences as well as many others. For example:

E99 for Native Americans

E184.5 for African Americans

PN1995.9 for minority representation in media
